Tips on Surviving a Pay Cut or Job Loss During COVID-19

The Corona Virus (COVID-19) Pandemic is wreaking havoc across the globe. At the time of writing this article, 3/19/20, there have been 9,700 deaths and 230,000 cases of COVID-19 worldwide. In the US, there are approximately 10,750 confirmed cases and 154 deaths in the U.S.

The Corona Virus is affecting people physically, with massive global fatalities and causing economic hardships. My husband works in the pest control industry and he just found out today that the regional manager is significantly cutting hours for their 24 employees. I understand. It’s difficult, but I understand. Customers can’t pay for “extra” expenses these days like pest control. I have heard from other friends who have been laid off right now from their jobs.

It can be difficult to deal with a pay cut or job loss at any time and especially during COVID-19. Consider some of the following tips to handle this financial crisis in your household.

As a Christian, my faith is in the Lord. Proverbs 3:5–6 tells us to “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.” I trust that God has a plan and will direct our steps.
