The Lighthouse
Guiding light
Built on the mount, plain yet regal to sight.
The house of light guards rough night waters,
eyes bright with anticipation, beams white,
sending word of homage to lost sailors.
Hard stone rounding the structure cementing
in place solid white brick walls of this safe house,
a solemn structure of truth rescuing
unfortunates lost in the crashing waves.
Inside the lantern room in the tower he stands,
a lighthouse tender directing and guiding the light,
gently illuminating the way to and from port.
Protecting from rocks, reefs, and treacherous shoals,
the lighthouse guides the ships home.
