Refreshment for the Soul
Psalm 23, The Lord is My Shepherd
My favorite Psalm is Psalm 23. I love how the first verse clearly defines our security in the Lord. Simply because He is our Shepherd, we will lack for nothing.
Sure, we’ll experience troubles in this world. Not everyone’s path will bring them to significant wealth. However, Philippians 4:19 shows us that the Lord will supply all our needs — not all our wants — according to His riches in glory.
Refreshment for Our Souls
The imagery depicted in verses 2–3 where God leads us to lie down in green pastures, besides the quiet waters, where He will then refresh our souls is so vivid.
I don’t know about you, but I truly need some refreshing — especially after this week. I don’t want to get too political here. However, as a nation, we are so divided.
For years since before Obama took office to present day with President Trump in office, there have been growing tensions in our nation. I love that our Lord is our Shepherd. He refreshes our souls.
I am praying for our nation and the world every day. I pray that we, as a nation, turn back to God and humble ourselves before Him. I pray that God would pour out His spirit and that there would be revival in our land.
