Should Christians Observe April Fool’s Day?

Have you observed April Fool’s Day? If you’re a Christian, do you think it’s okay for you to observe this day?

My Journey as a Christian

I grew up in a Christian home and got saved at a young age. I’ve been saved for 32 years. My mom was born in Holland and came to America with her family when she was 13. My family attended several churches while I lived at home. First a Dutch Reformed, then a Baptist church, non-denominational, and then an Assembly of God church. Currently, my husband and I attend an Assembly of God church as well.

I never knew the origin of April’s Fools Day, but I have been the butt of jokes and hoaxes and have participated in trying to fool people on this day — during my younger years. My brothers loved this day and always tried to prank us all.

I don’t currently observe April Fool’s Day. We did when I was younger. However, when we attended the Dutch Reformed church, they were not very strict and didn’t closely adhere to the principles found in God’s Word.

After we grew in the Lord, my family started attending the Baptist church and then the Assembly of God church as we continued to understand that ALL of God’s Word was meant for us to…
